"Becoming the woman I once needed.
Building what I proved was missing.”
Terra Marie Kurtz
Rebuilt with Purpose.
Terra M. Kurtz, is an author, advocate, entrepreneur, and founder whose work explores what happens after survival, when a woman begins turning the experiences that shaped her into something that can help shape the lives of others.
As the author of Motherhood on Trial and founder of the Legally Women Foundation, Terra’s work sits at the intersection of resilience, preparation, advocacy, and motherhood.
Her story began with learning how to survive systems she did not create. Her work today is about building what she learned was missing. For women navigating the uncertainty of Texas family court, preparation can make the process feel-more manageable. Terra M. Kurtz founded the Legally Women Foundation to help women become more informed, organized, and prepared to know where to start in the Texas family courts.
Through court-readiness education, practical preparation tools, case-organization resources, and community connections, the foundation helps bridge the gap for women to know where to start and how to start preparing for family court.
The Legally Women Foundation is not a law firm and does not provide legal representation or legal advice. The Legally Women Foundation does have partnered attorneys and family law firms to refer to the women we serve.
Motherhood on Trial is an upcoming memoir for mothers and women who are ready to turn their struggles into strengths. Women who have faced custody battles, family-court conflict, loss, fear, and the unwavering determination to choose a better life for themselves and loved ones. It is a personal perspective story from Terra’s point of view, not a legal guide, written for women who may need the reminder that someone else has stood in the frightening, uncertain place too.

Motherhood on Trial
Written for the woman sitting alone at her kitchen table trying to hold life together while the world misunderstands her story.
What began as Terra M. Kurtz’s personal fight through the family court system became something larger: A story about survival, preparation, resilience, and the quiet transformation that can happen when a woman stops waiting to be saved and starts trusting herself.
Disguised within the memoir is a roadmap. Not a legal manual, but a reminder that pain can become purpose, fear can become strategy, and trauma can sharpen a person instead of destroying them.
Through the pages of Motherhood on Trial, Terra hopes readers feel less alone in their own battles. She hopes women see that even in the middle of uncertainty, there is still hope. There is still life after survival. There is still beauty waiting to grow from the pieces.
This book exists because the little girl who once believed no one was coming grew into a woman determined to become the person she once needed herself.
“I don’t draw flowers anymore.
I grow them.”

Why Preparation Becomes Power
“Preparation doesn’t guarantee the outcome. It changes how you show up. If preparation directly influences the course of a case, why isn’t there a standardized system to ensure it?”
